Go 50 for Health and Wellbeing

Go50 logo Nordic walking logo

GO50 goes Nordic with a new programme of volunteer led Nordic Walks throughout Surrey. The walks will be led by trained Nordic Walk Leaders to proficient walkers with their own poles. There is no need to book for the walks and there is no commitment required, just turn up when you can!

Walks are provided free, but we would welcome a suggested donation of £2.00. If you can sign a gift aid declaration, we can reclaim the tax on donations. New walkers will be asked to fill in a Walker Registration Form on their first walk. Ask leaders for details.

What is Nordic Walking?

Nordic Walking is walking with Nordic Poles that originated as an off-season training method by cross-country skiers in the early 1930’s. Since then it has developed into one of the most effective exercise techniques around. Offering more health benefits than regular walking, Nordic Walking works the upper and lower body, strengthens the back, legs and arms, reduces neck and shoulder tension and improves the health of the heart and lungs. With a little practice, participants will find that even though their heart, lungs and body are working harder, it will feel easier and less tiring than normal walking.

How can I learn to Nordic Walk?

“fit as a fiddle” offers free courses of 8 sessions for older adults to try Nordic Walking throughout Surrey and Hampshire. Expert tuition and poles are provided free of charge. Booking is essential for all taster sessions and courses.

For upcoming courses, please click here or contact Age Concern Surrey on 01483 503414.
